Frank Coleman Young, Jr., MD, age 78, died November 9, 2012 at home after an extended illness. A native of South Carolina, he was the son of the late Frank Coleman and Lois Susan Adair Young. He was a graduate of Presbyterian College and the Medical College of South Carolina. He settled in Montgomery in 1970 after resigning from the Regular Army and was the co-founder of 20/20 Ophthalmic Associates. Dr. Young retired from private practice in 1994 and served as Vice President of Medical Affairs for Baptist Medical Center, retiring in 1999. He was a member of local, state and national medical organizations, and served two terms as chairman of the Montgomery County Board of Health. Dr. Young was a dedicated Army Reservist, having served a total of 41 years in the Regular Army and Army Reserve combined. He retired with the rank of Colonel in the Medical Corps and received several decorations, including the Legion of Merit. Dr. Young was active in several organizations and was an elder at Trinity Presbyterian Church and served as president of the Board of Trinity Presbyterian School. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Jo Ann Addy Young, by three children: Frank C. Young III (Anne), Jonelle Y. Yow (John III), and Frances Y. Morris (Stephen) and eight grandchildren: Frank C. Young IV, Rebecca Adair Young, Sarah Catherine Young, Caroline Yow Parker (Walter), John Stuart Yow IV, Mary Frances Morris, Andrew Stephen Morris, and Coleman Everett Morris, all of Montgomery. Also, surviving is one brother, Lawrence Edmund Young, of Clinton, South Carolina. A graveside service with full military honors will be held Monday, November 12th at Greenwood-Serenity Memorial Gardens at 12:30 p.m., followed by visitation at 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Session of Trinity Presbyterian Church and the members of the Robert Strong Sunday School class.
