Frank Jacobs was born December 25, 1931 in Burnt Corn, AL to Marshall Simmons and Hortensie Jacobs. He was raised by his loving late Grandmother, Willie Jacobs and Aunt Daisy and Uncle Joe Jacobs, Sr.
Frank was educated in the Conecuh County School System and upon graduating High School he entered the Marine Corps August 29, 1951 until August 28, 1954 as a Combat Engineer. He served in the Korean War. He was decorated with the Korean Service Medal (3 stars), UN Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
After his service in the military he moved to New York where he furthered his education and earned a Practical Nursing Certificate in July 1972 from the Vocational Education and Extension Board School of Practical Nursing of Nassau County, NY.
While working at Patterson Nursing Home he met the Love of his Life, Evelyn Jacobs. They married on April 29, 1967 in Hempstead, Long Island, New York where they resided for 35 years. Unto this union five beautiful children were born. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, Hempstead, NY under the late Rev. Clinton C. Boone.
In 1981, he and his family moved back home to Alabama. He resided in Montgomery where he joined Bethel Missionary Baptist Church under the late, Rev. Edward Martin. He served faithfully in Sunday School Class #1 until his health failed. He and Evelyn enjoyed being members of the Senior Citizens Center at Mt. Zion AME Zion Church, Rev. Claude A. Shuford, Pastor.
Frank will be long remembered as a devoted husband and father; a friend and hard worker in his community; a dutiful helper and giver in his church; a peacekeeper in his family; a blessing to his friends, whatever they needed he gave, and most importantly a child of God.
He was preceded in death by his loving and devoted wife Evelyn Brown Jacobs and son Larry Bernard Jackson, Jr., Opelika, AL; brother Joe Jacobs, Jr., Montgomery, AL; and sister Billie Jacobs, Chicago, IL Leaving behind to cherish his memory is his devoted and loving son, Seneca E. Jacobs, Montgomery, AL; daughters, Marshall M. Jacobs, Sumter, South Carolina; Minister Sharonne Joy Jacobs, El Paso, Texas, and Natasha S. Jacobs, Troy, AL. Ten grandchildren, Tashawn (Alexis) and Tevin (Brittany) Jacobs; Sumter, SC, Xavier and Shania Jacobs; Tuscaloosa, AL; I.J. and Irianna Washington; Montgomery, AL; Shanya Reed and Winston Reed III, Columbus, GA; Taylor and Makeyle Rudolph, Wetumpka, AL. Two great granddaughters, Ty’Layah Jacobs, Brielle Jacobs, and Aiden Tindall, Sumter, SC, and Damerius Prince, Killeen, TX. Two daughters-in-law; Shunda Rudolph, Wetumpka, AL; and Tameika Rushing, Columbus, GA; Four sisters-in-law; Doris Brown; Hempstead, NY; Shirley Powe; Montgomery, AL; Ora Carter; Charlotte, NC, and Pearl Brown, Auburn, AL. Adopted son, Winston Reed Jr., Columbus, GA and god children, Keith (Karen) De Gannes, Smyrna, GA and TaShawn Williams-Mathew, Charlotte, NC.
