Felton Lee Bivins, Jr., a native of Macon GA, but resided in Montgomery, AL. He passed on October 21, 2022 at Diversicare of Montgomery. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 29, 2022 at Leak Memory Chapel at 11:00 am. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be Friday, October 28, 2022 at Leak Memory Chapel from 5:00-7:00 pm. He will lay at state one hour prior to services on Saturday.
Mr. Bivins is preceded in death by his parents Felton L. and Eula Johnson Bivins, Sr., his brothers Ulysses H. Bivins, Emmitt O. Bivins and sisters Mary Bivins Waller and Mrs. Betty Bivins. He is survived by his wife, of sixty-four years, Lillie Shuford Bivins, daughters Deborah Bivins (Northport, AL) and Sandra Bivins-Tutt (Willie), grandson Willie Edward Tutt, II (Derrinique) and great grandson Isaiah Edward Tutt all of Montgomery, AL. He had numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He worked as a Case Manager in his later career with the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) in Mental Health and Behavioral Science. He was employee at the VA Hospital in Tuskegee, AL where he was recognized with fifty years of Federal Service before retiring. Mr. Bivins was also recognized for twenty-five years of meritorious and loyal service at Regions. He was a Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Upsilon Lambda Chapter, Life member of Shaaban Temple No. 103, Oasis Of Montgomery, Desert Of Alabama, Past Potentate and Past Imperial Deputy of the Oasis of Montgomery and Past Master of A. A. Peters Lodge No. 900. He was also a faithful member of the Prince Hall Consistory No. 19,Valley of Montgomery, Orient of Alabama. He served in the United State Air Force where he was stationed at Maxwell Air Force as a Military Police.
During his life he was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry Prince Hall Affiliation, Southern Jurisdiction, USA. He was a Notary Public for the State of Alabama at large and presented a Certificate of Military for honorable service in the United States Air Force for outstanding service and loyalty. He met the strict requirements set forth by the Congress of the United States for membership in the American Legion. He was recognized with many other awards.
