Evelyn Shelly Jimenez was born Evelyn Shelly Wolff on August 30, 1941, in Berlin, Germany. She came to the United States at the age of 18 and became an American citizen shortly thereafter of which she was very proud. She was also a proud graduate of the University of South Carolina, Class of 1977.
After 18 years of marriage, she divorced and married her second husband, Salvador Jimenez, with whom she enjoyed 45 years of marriage. They traveled extensively all around the world together, visiting places like Antarctica, the Galápagos Islands, Mt. Everest, and every other country you can think of. She was an avid reader, enjoyed following politics and spending time with her family.
She passed away peacefully in her sleep on the evening of January 15, 2024.
Shelly is survived by her husband, Salvador Jimenez, daughters Pamela Atkins (Robert), Tamy Machado (Carlos), grandson Peter Atkins (Elizabeth) and great-grandson Theodore “Teddy”. She was much loved and will be greatly missed.
A family and friends visitation for Evelyn will be held Saturday, January 20, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Road, Montgomery, AL 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 10:00 AM.
