Emily Henryette Bailey

Emily Henryette Bailey passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 13, 2024. Born on December 30, 1926, she was the daughter of Henry Franklin Till and Nobie Viola (Giddens) Till Luckie, who preceded her in death, as did her loving husband of 64 years, Guy Hubert Bailey, Jr, and sisters, Viola Till Burton and Maggie Bell Till McFadden. She is survived by her son, UTRGV President Guy Bailey (Val LaMantia) of McAllen, TX; daughter, Jane Bailey Morgan (Rev Gary Morgan) of Clay, AL; 4 grandchildren, Kristie Frazier (Rev Andy Frazier) of Dora, AL; Chris Morgan (Stephanie) of Winchester, KY; Dr. Jordan Bailey (Dr. Anthony Oliveri) of Okemos, MI; Brooks Bailey (Lindsey) of Montgomery; 11 great-grandchildren, Drew, Blake, & Cade Frazier, Lila, Stella, Asa, & Judah Morgan, Aiden & Avery Bailey, Margot & Finn Oliveri; sisters-in-law, Lois Kelly, Dot Bailey, Judy Bailey, & Mary Bailey, and a host of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bailey was a long-time member of Chisholm Baptist Church where she faithfully served through the years as a Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Bible Drill Leader, Volunteer with Manna to make meals for the homebound, and in many other positions at church. She retired from the State of Alabama Department of Revenue after more than 25 years of service. She was inducted into the Alabama Senior Citizens Hall of Fame, where she received the Guardian Award and was made a Permanent Member. Mrs. Bailey was an avid Alabama fan and enjoyed going to the games.

Those serving as pall bearers will be Mike Bailey, Steve Bailey, Lance Kelly, Russell Kelly, Drew Frazier, and Blake Frazier.

Family will receive friends at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, AL 36109, on Sunday, February 18 from 12:30 -2:00. A Celebration of Life Service officiated by Rev. Daniel Edmonds and Rev Andy Frazier, will follow at Leak Memory Chapel at 2:00 PM, with a graveside service afterwards.

A special thanks to her caregiver, Monice Fritts, for the love and special care she gave Mrs. Bailey the last couple of years.
