Dorothy Spence McCracken

Dorothy Spence McCracken was promoted to be with her Savior on February 27, 2014, at the age of 92. She was born in Greenville, North Carolina, on August 26, 1921, to Agnes & Lebern Spence and grew up in Morehead City, North Carolina. Dottie met her husband Mac (Dwight) McCracken when he opened up Seymour Johnson Field in Goldsboro, North Carolina. They were married in 1942. They had two children, Jan and Spence. Jan's husband is Tom Kotouc and their children are Amy (David Turner) [Alex, Thomas, Anna], Josh, and Jenny (Brian Steelman) [Ella, Mitchell, Matthew]. Spence’s wife is Pegge and their children are JT (Lori Wilson) [Ava, Ford], Toby (Kristin Retzke) [Libby, Caroline] and Mac (Kerrie Brewer) [Kyndall, Dax, Kamdyn]. Dottie is survived by her sister Irene Weeber. Her sister Clara and two younger brothers who died in childhood have gone on to heaven.

All her church family and friends are invited to visitation at Gateway Baptist Church, 3300 Bell Road at 1:00pm prior to the funeral at 2:00pm. Graveside service will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, 909 Lincoln Road. The pallbearers are JT McCracken, Toby McCracken, Mac McCracken, Ray Bozeman, David Turner and Brian Steelman.
