Doris Ruth Hulgan Williams, age 96, of Montgomery, Alabama passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023. She was preceded in death by husband: Frederick G. Williams, her parents: John Hulgan and Rinna Epperson Hulgan, her daughter: Paula W. Flahive, and her son: D. Gary Williams. Doris is survived by daughter Freida W Addison (Joseph Henry Addison) as well as eight grandchildren: Joey Addison, Jerry Addison, Jackie Parham, Tracey Addison, Mike Addison (Lorie Addison), Jonathan Flahive (Tara Flahive), Jennifer Thornell (Shane Thornell), Brittany Tran (Jonathan Tran) with fourteen great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Doris retired from ATT after 30 years as a Long-Distance Operator. After retirement, she became actively involved in Yarborough Street Baptist Church where she kept the nursery for many years and everyone knew her as Granny. In addition, she was on committees to help with special events (e.g. Weddings, Showers, etc.).
Aside from work and church “Granny” was an accomplished baker with her cakes becoming her signature dish. At one point in her retirement, she would cook dozens of cakes and treats over the holidays as gifts for her friends and family. Granny was loved by all.
A family and friends visitation for Doris will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Leak Memory Chapel, 945 Lincoln Rd, Montgomery, Alabama 36109, followed by a celebration of life chapel service at 11:00 AM. Services will conclude with a burial in adjacent Greenwood Cemetery.
