Donna Gaylor Jarry of Montgomery, Alabama went home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, July 31, 2017, after a long battle with cancer. Donna was born on January 13, 1949 in Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother, George O. Gaylor of Huntsville, Alabama, her beloved parents, George Oscar Gaylor, Jr. and Mildred (Mimi) Nelson Gaylor Calfee, of Birmingham, Verbena, and Prattville, Alabama, and by her stepfather, Robert Evan Calfee, of Prattville, Alabama.
Donna loved her thirty year career as a registered nurse, while working in Birmingham, Prattville, and Montgomery. She was a charter member of the Alabama Association of Critical Care Nurses, and was a member of the National Honor Society of Nursing. Donna was an honors graduate with a BSN from UAB. She served on community boards and associations, with her favorites being the Heart Association and the Cancer Society.
Donna is survived by her most beloved husband and love of her life, Jacques Jarry, of Montgomery; her daughters and their husbands, Melanie Boles (Ron), of Prattville, and Stephanie McCluskey (Phillip), of Virginia, and six grandchildren; Charlotte and Georgia Boles, and Joshua, Micah, Ian, and Mary Claire McCluskey.
Donna is also survived by four stepdaughters, Janet Bierly, of Virginia, and Vicki Lawrenson, Sonia Hinkley, and Patricia Jarry, all of Montgomery. Along with her stepdaughters, she was blessed with eight step-grandchildren: Alex, Tyler, Meryn, and Ryan Bierly, Brandon Hinkley, and Chris, Sean, and Jessica Lawrenson.
Donna was also blessed with three surviving siblings, beloved brother Michael Gaylor and his remarkable wife, Carolyn, of Clanton, brother Glenn Gaylor of Millbrook, and sister, Susan Miller (Trent) of Prattville, along with her nieces and nephews who had such special places in her heart. There were many special friends whom she loved with all her heart, especially including high school friends of over forty-five years Myra Davis and Melvolene Dobbs, both of Clanton. A heartfelt thank you goes to Dr. Danny Ingram and wife Kelly of Prattville for their friendship of over thirty years. After God, family and friends were most important in her life.
A special thank you goes to Hospice of Montgomery, and to the very special employees.
Even though Donna dealt with debilitating pain, she never lost sight of her true rewards awaiting her through Jesus Christ, her Savior and Lord, who bestowed upon her so many blessings. She especially tried to stand by the sentiments expressed by Pastor Adrian Rogers who reminded us that it is better to stand alone with the truth than to be wrong with a multitude. He also reminded us that the Bible contains the precepts of truth, Jesus is the Person of truth, and the Holy Spirit is the Power of truth.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2017 at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home with Minister Hawthorne Reed officiating. A private burial will follow in Alabama National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
