Donald Don W. Jones

JONES, Donald Wayne, 75, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away Saturday, September 22, 2012, at his residence after a battle with lung cancer. He retired from the SCI funeral homes (White Chapel, Leak-Memory Chapel, and Alabama Heritage), on July 31, 2002. Mr. Jones was born in Greenville, AL, the son of the late Macon and Jeannie Jones. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Jimmy, and Larry. Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Jones; two daughters, Terri Head (Tommy), Montgomery, AL and Pam Gardner (Ronald), Oxford, GA; two grandsons, Jason Gardner (Brittney) and Taylor Head, Montgomery, AL; three granddaughters, Heather Green (Britt), Eclectic, AL, Wendy Gardner, Pensacola, FL, and Ashley Cornwall (Michael), Montgomery, AL; two great grandsons, Caleb and Eli Green; two great granddaughters, Ann-Stallings and Mary-Hallman Gardner; his mother-in-law, Opal Peterson of Montgomery, AL; sister-in-law, Gwen Jones, Marianna, FL; nieces, Deborah McDonald (Barry), Colliersville, TN, Shelia Payne, Birmingham, AL, Stacey Grimes (Church) and Amy Davis (Sean), Panama City, FL; nephew, Randell Jones (Teresa), Lynn Haven, FL; and numerous great nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at 3:00 p.m. at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, with Rev. Mike Northcutt officiating. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, September 24, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at Alabama Heritage. Pallbearers will be Brad Ballew, Randell Jones, John Michael Morris, Steve Strickland, Jacky Todd, and Kyle Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery, Leak-Memory Chapel, White Chapel-Greenwood and Ridout’s Prattville Chapel, and members of the Robert Strickland Sunday School Class.
