Was so sorry to hear of Great-uncle Don's passing.  May God pull you closer and give you the strength you need at this time. Uncle Don, who in my memory always had a twinkle in his eye and a ready smile and laugh, is now with his parents and brother Olin. I'm so glad I was able to see him in September of 2018, after not seeing him for many years (I think it had been 2012). His health was failing, but his loving spirit was intact. Sending my love to Dixie, Paul and family, and Reba, and of course also to my Dad Eulie and Aunt Jan.

John and I were terribly sad to hear of Uncle Don’s passing from this earth. We knew he had been gravely ill and can’t help but believe that he held on long enough to see in both an auspicious-sounding New Year (for this was a man who appreciated numbers like few of us do) and his 60th Anniversary with the love of his life.  

I have of course known Don all my life and remember him as both a talented teacher with a wry sense of humor and as my dad’s handsome, brown-eyed younger brother who provided a ready smile and helping hands at family functions. 

What a joyous reunion he must be having right now with Olin Sr. & Jr., Bernice, and so many other loved ones! In my imagination, his dad ladled up a cup of the famous lemonade he used to make for family reunions to hand to Don as he stepped up to Heaven’s gate!

Dixie, Paul, Reba, Stacy — also E.R. (my dad, who is in the picture with Don taken in 2012) and Jan: I don’t know what to say to comfort you other than I love you. While Don’s absence will create a hole in your life your memories will keep your love for him very much alive, and perhaps that will help with your sorrow. 

I have great memories of growing up next door to Don and Jan.  They  were good friends and great neighbors. Their late mother was a very close friend and confidant to my mom.  I remember their Dad being a Watkins Product salesman!  ( loved to get their vanilla flavoring)!   Always, always had so much love and respect for this whole family . 
It's so sad and unfortunate that as we grow up, move away etc, we lose touch with some of the very people who helped in making us who we are today.    Please know we will be thinking of you during this time of loss and grief.  The Great Comforter is with you.
