Presley, David Lee, 81, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 26, after a long and brave battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hosea Lee Presley and Minnie Sue Presley. His memory will be cherished by his wife of 49 years, Dianne Evans Presley; his sisters, Julie Johnson and Glenda Sherer; his son, Michael Wade Presley (Amy); his daughter, Lisa Marie Presley; and his grandchildren, Charlie David Hibbard, Benjamin Lee Presley, and Noah James Presley.
David was born on August 6, 1943, in Montgomery, Alabama. After high school, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Shangri-La aircraft carrier for two years in the 1960s. After receiving an honorable discharge, he worked briefly for L&N Railroad in Montgomery before starting a career of more than 30 years with AT&T and Bellsouth. After retiring in 2004, he spent several years lovingly caring for his elderly mother.
He was a loving husband and devoted dad and grandpa. He loved traveling to new places, reading books from the library, trains, outlaw country music, Alabama football, and, most of all, spending time with and supporting his family. His kind and gentle nature will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life service will be held at Leak Memory Chapel on Monday, September 30 at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Leak Memory Chapel at 10:00 a.m. on Monday.
