He was preceded in death by his parents, Nelson and Winnie George.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Brenda George; two sons, Christopher George and Kevin (Amberly) George; his grandson, Zachary George;his sister, Susan (Jim) Hedges and niece and nephew, Lisa and John Hedges.
He graduated from Millsaps College in 1974 and the University of MS College of Medicine (UMC) in 1978. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at UMC in 1982 and a Cardiology Fellowship at the University of NC in 1985. He joined Montgomery Cardiovascular Associates in 1985 and has worked there until present. David’s interests included flying, reading, tennis, music and medicine.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, March 29, 2015 in the Chapel of Alabama Heritage Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m. with Dr. Jay Wolf officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 prior to the service. Burial will follow in Alabama Heritage Cemetery.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Montgomery Cancer Center and Baptist East Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to: The Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, First Baptist Church, 305 S. Perry St., or First United Methodist Church of Montgomery.
