Dr. Dave A. Khadanga was born in Cuttack, Odisha in the country of India. He departed this life on Sunday, March 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father Dr. M. S. Khadanga and his mother Rani Khadanga. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Rosie S. Khadanga; they celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on December 24, 2022. Dr. Khadanga is also survived by his and Rosie’s only child, Sherrie Khadanga M.D. and by Dr. Khadanga’s brother, Devashis Khadanga M.D.
Dr. Dave Khadanga was a tenured professor of Management and was the founding dean of the Harris College of Business & Executive Education in 1988; this was an office he held until his passing. He began working at Faulkner University in 1985 when he accepted a faculty appointment as Assistant Professor of Business Administration. Dr. Khadanga attended Utkal University in Odisha, India and earned the following degrees: Bachelor of Commerce; Master of Commerce; PhD in Personnel Management and LLB (Bachelor of Laws). He also earned an MBA from Alabama A&M University in Huntsville, Alabama. He was a member of the American Management Association, the Academy of Management and the Society for Human Resource Management. Although serving as dean, Dr. Khadanga continued to teach several business courses on both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
In 1988, Khadanga created the Executive Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) program. At this time, he also substantially enhanced the B.S. in Management of Human Resources (MHR) program. Later, in 1997, he led development and implementation of the Master of Science in Management (M.S.M.) program. He also led the development and implementation of the Executive MBA program.
His desire to teach was motivated by his desire to "instill knowledge among those desiring to learn" and was also motivated "by the opportunity of influencing, shaping and molding the lives of young people."
A celebration of life memorial service for Dave will be held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 at 3:30 PM at University Church of Christ, 5315 Atlanta Hwy, Montgomery, AL 36109.
