A graduate of University of Tennessee in 1974, Dan spent his entire career of 26 years with Oscar Mayer/Kraft.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Debra Peeks Hackett, son Daniel Joseph Hackett, Jr. (Leslie), daughter Jennifer Hackett Sellers (Thomas), one granddaughter Taylor Hackett Sellers, and his identical twin brother William Joseph Hackett Jr. (Elizabeth).
His favorite hobbies included spending time with family, golfing with friends, coaching Youth baseball, and duck hunting in Arkansas. He loved Tennessee football, was a three-time Alabama State Duck calling champion, and loved going to Highlands, NC. Dan also never met a stranger, having the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone and everyone. He was a heart transplant recipient in September 2016, and had great admiration of the ability for medicine to give people a second chance on life.
His pallbearers will be Craig Chapman, Temple Millsap, Bob Ramsey, Hans Luquire, Fletcher Gibson, Chip Garrard, Jimmy Walter, Mark Froemming and Terry Williams.
The funeral will be at Church of the Ascension on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 11:00 AM with visitation one hour before.
