Dana Temple

A celebration of Dana's life will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 29, with visitation starting at 12:30 pm at Saint James United Methodist Church. Dr. Lester Spencer and Reverend Walter Albritton will officiate with burial to follow in Greenwood Cemetery after Pistolero Tanker's Last Ride. Dana's close friend and Pistolero brother, Veteran Mickey Styron, will present the American flag in honor of Dana's military service, and the American Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard will provide the flag line.

Dana was preceded in death by his grandparents Ilene and Dempsey Collins and Bobbie and Lee Temple, and by his father-in-law Ted Cheek. He is survived by his wife Lisa Cheek Temple; daughter Candice Ewen (Nick); sons Chadwick Temple and Dana Allen Temple, Jr. "Temp;" mother Shirley Collins Temple; father Frank Temple (Dian); mother-in-law Ellen Cheek; sisters Debra Knowles (Marcus) and Sherry Christian (Mel); brothers Lee Temple (Ramiro) and Dale Temple; seven beloved grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other close family members and special friends.

Dana graduated from Jeff Davis High School, and attended Troy University. He was an outstanding athlete in several sports, and was honored to achieve the rank of an Eagle Scout. He proudly served in the United States Army as a Sergeant in C Company of the 6th Battalion, 32D Armor Division where he earned many awards and honors including two Army Achievement Medals for Exceptional Meritorious Service. He later trained in the 1st Armor Training Brigade and became a Tank Commander. Dana was a founding partner of Silent Sentry Electronic Security, Inc., and the sole owner/member of Sentry Security Technology, LLC. He was highly regarded as an expert in the security industry working with many state and federal agencies, and was frequently asked to speak on security issues and technology at various conferences. Dana was appointed by the Governor of Alabama to serve two terms on the Electronic Security Board of Licensure, and he received numerous Certificates of Appreciation for Meritorious Service to the Alabama Alarm Association. He was a member of the National Eagle Scout Association, and a long time member of Saint James United Methodist Church. Dana also was a member of the Pistoleros, MC and Past President of the Alabama Riders.

He was a devoted husband and father, and loved God and his family with all his heart. Dana loved life and was known for his fun sense of humor. He enjoyed a good meal, loved animals and Alabama football, and was a Denver Broncos' fan. His talents and interests were varied and many. He enjoyed playing the electric guitar and riding his motorcycle. Dana's favorite pastime was spending time with all of his extended family, and he especially enjoyed cooking for his family and sharing laughter and love with his children and grandchildren.

Pallbearers are Nick Ewen, Mel Christian, Marcus Knowles, Dale Temple, Chuck Head, Jim Mracek, Mike Ritzus, and Bob Jameson. Honorary pallbearers are Dana's brothers in the Pistoleros and the Alabama Riders Motorcycle Clubs, Matt Knight, Rick Hansen, Chip Cheek, Dale Cribbins, Tony Morrison, Jim Deal, Lee Temple, and Terry Castari.

Dana had a special place in his heart for the welfare and education of boys and young men and helped establish a Boy Scout Troup at Saint James United Methodist Church.
