Clarence Eugene “Gene” Taylor, a resident of Calera, Alabama and former resident of Montgomery, Alabama, went home to be with the Lord on November 17, 2021 from his home with his wife, Sharon, at his side. Gene served the Lord through the bus Ministry, Junior Church, and as Youth Director for many years. He served his country in the Navy from 1957 – 1961 and was on inactive duty for two years. He was a skilled carpenter and worked for the Montgomery County School district maintenance department until his retirement. He was a man who loved the Lord, his family, and friends.
Gene had a host of Encompass Hospice nurses, aids, and social worker Sonya Wormley and Chaplain Victor Lewis who cared for him over the last few months.
He was preceded in death by his parents Earl Leroy and Katie Idell Taylor; two sons, Larry Gene Taylor and Herbert Ray Taylor; one grandson, Christopher Taylor; and sisters Edna Earl, Joyce, Pat, and brother Billy Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years Sharon Taylor; daughter Sherrie Taylor, son Marty Taylor (wife Cindy); 4 grandchildren James Taylor, Brandi Lee, Veronica López-Delgado, and Victoria Sims; and 7 great-grandchildren with one on the way; brother-in-law Art Giddens (wife Linda); and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be on November 22, 11AM at White Chapel- Greenwood with a family and friends visitation one hour prior to the service.
His pallbearers will be James Taylor, Andrés López-Delgado, Robert Sims, Sanchez Lee, Brandon Giddens, and Joe Ciniglio. Family will receive friends one hour prior to services at White Chapel- Greenwood Funeral Home.
