Charlie William Wood

Charlie William (Bill) Wood, a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather was called home to Heaven Friday, April 14, 2023. He was born in Grady, Alabama December 14, 1934. Bill served in the US Naval Reserves for 8 years. He was assigned to the USS Maloy. He was a letter carrier with the US Postal Service for over 30 years. He was awarded a certificate for driving over a million miles without incident. He was a long-standing member of Friendship Baptist Church serving in many capacities - a deacon, Sunday School Teacher and Director of Sunday School. He leaves to cherish his memory a wife of almost 70 years(just a few weeks shy) Mary Faye Pierce Wood, daughters Debbie Norris (Julius), Mary Ann Fannin (Mills), Amy Wood and Tina Harris (Joey), son Robert Wood (Janie), grandchildren Eric Fannin (Cindy), Stephen Fannin (Leslie), Deidra Norris, Natalie Thorn (Trey), Jay Norris, Lynn Shultz, Marli Wood, Houston Harris and Corey Harris, great grandchildren Grace Fannin, Austin Fannin, Gage Mann, Cameron Fannin, Clayton Fannin, Aubrie Thorn, Iris Duncan, Vera Duncan, Brittany Ingram, Jan-Michael Shultz, Kelly Evans (Coty), Brandt Trotter and Blane Trotter, great great grandchild Braylon Evans, sister Lorene Tatum, special great grandchildren Christopher Johnson(Selena) and Belle McNeely(Izay) and special great great grandchildren Adalyn and Brodie Johnson. Pallbearers will be Austin Fannin, Gage Mann, Cameron Fannin, Clayton Fannin, Mills Fannin, Bert Reeves, Bill Mills, and Grey Mills.

Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Mills and the Deacons of Friendship Baptist Church. Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 19, 2023 at Friendship Baptist Church at 11:00 am. Visitation will be from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
