Charles R Porter

Charles Richard Porter, 83, of Montgomery, passed on June 26, 2017. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Joanne Cyrus Porter. He is survived by one daughter, Lydia Porter; one son, Scott Porter (Bonnie); one brother, Ronald Tom Porter of Pataska, Ohio; one sister, Sue Blankenship (Pierce) of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; and special friends, John McLeod, Errol Law, John Regnier, and Paul Fields. He was a loving Husband and Father. Mr. Porter was a graduate of Marshall University. He served as a commissioned officer in the United States Public Health Service for 31 years as a scientist and Director of E.P.A. He was a published author, scientist, fisherman, and avid Alabama fan “Roll Tide Roll”. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 6, 2017 from 2:00-3:00PM at Leak Memory Chapel with a graveside service following in Greenwood Cemetery at 3:00PM. Flowers may be sent to Leak Memory Chapel or donations can be made to The Montgomery Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
