He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Alice Bryant McKinney; his children, Ronnie (and Heather) McKinney; Karen (and Cheryl) McKinney-Herring; grandchildren, Keira and Liam McKinney; siblings, Clovette Baker, Montez Bryant (Gary), and Terry McKinney; and a large loving extended family, including many wonderful nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Kinard and Mattie McKinney; his siblings, Eloise Derriso (Robert), Cecil McKinney (Fay), Robert McKinney (Mary), and his brother-in-law, Bobby J. Baker.
Charles was born in Albany, Georgia on January 16, 1941. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force. Charles had tremendous love for animals, and received great joy from those who shared his life, including his Yorkies Bennie and Libby, his horses, and all the neighborhood birds.
Visitation will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home on Monday, October 17, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Little Texas Cemetery (Tuskegee, Macon County, Alabama) with Rev. Shane Isner officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) Montgomery, Alabama.
