The family will receive friends at Leak-Memory Chapel on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00pm. Funeral services will be at 1:30pm on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Leak-Memory Chapel with Rev. John Bush officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery.
Mr. Williams was born September 24, 1924 in Carbon Hill, Alabama to the late Myrtle Ethyl and Lee Roy Williams. He graduated from Carbon Hill High School in 1942 and entered the Army Air Corp where he served 34 months during World War II in the Philippine Islands and Japan. After discharge from the service he entered Auburn University under GI Bill and received a Civil Engineering degree, graduating in 1950, all while working at a restaurant supporting his wife and baby daughter. He finished at Auburn University in three years and was on the Dean’s List and a member of honorary fraternity, Chi Epsilon for Civil Engineering. In 1947 he and Rosie were married. There marriage lasted 45 years until her death in 1992. Both Rosie and Cecil were avid Auburn fans and were football scholarship donors since 1982. After college he was employed as a structural engineer for four years by Sherlock, Smith and Adams in Montgomery. He then was employed by Folmar & Flynn for 23 years, designing and building subdivisions, houses, shopping centers and offices. Since 1977 he has been a partner in Folmar & Associates developing and managing shopping centers. At one time Folmar & Associates was the largest strip shopping center developer in the southeastern United States. Cecil came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord when he was 12 years old while attending a revival with his mother.
He is survived by his daughters and son-in-law, Cecilia Strickland (Bob), Becky Lynne Williams and Bonnie Thompson; three grandsons, Scott Mullen, Matt Mullen (Amy) and Tristan Thompson; great-grandson, Travis Mullen and a faithful cocker spaniel, Bo.
Pallbearers will be Bob Strickland, Scott and Matt Mullen, Tristan Thompson, Kurt Wilson and John Gill.
