Carolyn Phillips Frost, 74, was called home to our Lord on the 24th of October, 2021. The Grandest Dame of her generation, Mama passed away gently, surrounded by family. She graduated from Troy State University of Montgomery and following a lengthy career of over 30 years, retired from the State of Alabama. More importantly, she shared 49 years with her Sweetie, Verlon Frost. The maternal saint of cooking, she was the hostess supreme and loved nothing more than having her nest overflowing with family and friends, each with a belly full of home-cooking and a tall mug of gourmet coffee. She reveled in retail therapy and slept in an ocean of fine linens and throw pillows. Possessing a sense of smell that was as sharp as her wit, Carolyn appreciated a fresh bouquet of flowers, scented candles, or a simple bowl of floating magnolia blooms. She enjoyed few things more than a good ol’ gospel sangin’ but she also loved that old-time rock & roll. She was always clothed in something of royal blue and her family would like to encourage anyone attending services to wear something blue in her honor.
She is survived by her sons, Kurt (Sara), Karl (Jennifer); grandchildren, Karson and Arden; and her siblings, Leo (Pearl), Frank (Linda), Harry (Mandy), Eddie (Linda), and Sylvia (David).
Besides the loss of her husband in 2020, she was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Edna Phillips, and brothers Joseph, Hank, Sam, and David.
Visitation will be at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 31, 2021, at Leak Memory Chapel with a Celebration of Life at 2:00pm. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Minister Rodney Culpepper officiating. Pallbearers will be Kurt Frost, Karl Frost, Karson Frost, Matt Payne, Jonathan Henderson, and Hunter Tomblin.
