Carl Raford Randolph, 89, of Madison, AL, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, October 17, 2022. Carl was born in Bibb County, AL on April 26, 1933, the son of Virgil Raymond and Maebelle (Palmer) Randolph.
Carl graduated from Bibb County High School, Class of 1951, and enlisted in the United State Air Force where he served 20 years as a security police officer. In addition to serving at numerous locations within the U.S., Carl also served abroad at Ramstein AFB Germany, Bien Hua AFB Vietnam, and Ernest Harmon AFB, Newfoundland. After retiring from the Air Force in 1971, Carl went on to earn a BS degree in Business Administration with a Major in Accounting from Auburn University in Montgomery. Carl then embarked on a second career in the Alabama State Treasury Department where he served as the Chief Accountant before retiring in 1996 with 24 years of service. Carl’s 45-year career was quite an accomplishment for someone voted Laziest by the 1951 Class of Bibb County High School.
Carl married Dorothy (Dot) Baker on September 4, 1966, and the couple went on to celebrate 49 years together. Both Carl and Dot were long-time members of Eastmont Baptist Church in Montgomery, AL and Mount Zion Baptist Church in Huntsville, AL. Carl was an avid golfer and member of Arrowhead Country Club in Montgomery, AL where he had at least one hole-in-one. Carl’s favorite season was fall and enjoying University of Alabama football. Above all else, Carl’s greatest love was for his beloved wife Dot and only daughter Carla.
In addition to his wife and parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brothers Virgil Randolph Jr and Harold Randolph, and his sister Jewell Randolph Taylor. He is survived by his daughter Carla Rock (Stacey); three grandchildren, Rachel Rock, Samuel Rock, and Thomas Rock, and by brother Harper Randolph, and sister Ruth Randolph Spencer.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation on Friday, October 21st starting at 1:00 pm at Eastmont Baptist Church with a service to follow at 2:00 pm.
Carl will be interred at Alabama Heritage Cemetery in Montgomery, AL.
