To say Burt Baldwin lived quite a life is an understatement. The high standard Burt had for himself was noticeable in all aspects of his life. He was not afraid of a challenge or to take a risk. This was evident in his career, especially as a pilot. He served as a private pilot for Milton McGregor. McGregor was the developer of Victory Land (Montgomery, AL) and the Birmingham Race Course. In a Rockwell Turbo Commander 690A he flew several Alabama officials. Those included Governor George Wallace of Alabama.
Burt was a man’s man who enjoyed hunting and Auburn football. Many of his trophy animals were displayed throughout his apartment for all to see. Burt always had his Auburn belt on, and was a proud supporter of Auburn University.
As a resident at the Legends at Eastdale Estates, he enjoyed the company of others and he looked most forward to visits from his family and friends. The highlights of his week always included Mr. Charles coming to pick him up for Bible study on Thursday and church on Sunday at Frazer Church.
Burt was preceded in death by his wife Marie Witcher Baldwin; he is survived by two daughters Deborah Baldwin and Connie Luckie; step-son, Michael Scott Youngblood (Lesa); step-daughter Kelli Youngblood Smith; five grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, family and friends.
