March 12, 2022, Billie Dove Harper completed her Earthly Journey. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and Loved and was Loved by all that knew her. Her earthly journey began on November 14, 1930. She was born at home in Santuck, Alabama where she spent most of her childhood. She graduated from Wetumpka High School, Class of 1949. She began her early adult life working for South Central Bell and worked there until she moved to Fairbanks, Alaska with her husband. Returning to Alabama in 1959. She worked with the State Department of Public Health with Dr. Ira Myers. She retired from the State of Alabama from the State Comptroller's office. After retirement she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and working in the kitchen of Open Acres Baptist Church preparing meals on wheels for the elderly. She volunteered with the Red Cross for twenty plus years and helped in delivering meals on wheels as long as she was able. She loved to deliver flowers and fruit baskets to the shut ins and to the nursing homes. She enjoyed being involved with her church and working with the youth ministries and vacation bible school. It was her passion to work and minster to the young children in the church. These ministries came full circle as the church would deliver flowers and fruit baskets to her after she lost her sight and became a shut-in. She was a member of the Chisholm Baptist Church, moving her membership to Open Acres Baptist Church. Later in life, she joined Eastmont Baptist Church. She was a member of the Mills/Stickle/Mills Sunday School Class.
Billie Dove Harper was preceded in Death by her parents Henry Lee and Lillian Evans Barron and her Husband of 52 years Berry G Harper. She was also preceded by her Sister Henry Nell (Doyle) Gaither, Ralph (Maxine) Barron and her sister Reba (Roger) Reader.
She is survived by her sister Leo (Ed) Blanton, son Paul S Harper (Debbie) granddaughter and caretaker Stephanie Michelle Harper, Her grandson Michael P Harper (Jess). She enjoyed 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be Monday, March 21, 2022 at Alabama Heritage. Visitation will be at 10:00 and service will follow at 11:00 with Brother Mike Northcutt and Billy Gaither officiating.
Pall bearers will be David Barron, Darryl Barron, Marty Reader, Chris Reader, Bo Randall and Denny Bowden.
