Betty Jean Worthy, a resident of Montgomery, AL passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the age of 78. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who also adored her pets. Mrs. Worthy was a dedicated retired employee of Jackson Hospital. Mrs. Worthy was preceded in death by her husband, James “Jimmy” Worthy, her parents, Lester P. Gilbert and Jewell “Nanny” D. Gilbert, son Scott Worthy, granddaughter Nikki Seamon, and brother Robert Gilbert, Sr. She is survived by her children Stacy (Steve) Steinke, Christy (Johnny) Johnston, Jackson Worthy-Gilbert; and Vicky Thompson; brothers, Donald Gilbert, Chester ( Dianne) Gilbert, sisters Margaret Gilbert, Barbara Skipper; grandchildren Christopher, Cody, Chance, Kourtney, Kyrstin, TJ, and Kayla; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home and Cemetery, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 11:00 with visitation at 10:00 with Minister Mark McLendon officiating. Fellowship will follow at Chisholm Baptist Church.
