Betty Moore, 90, a lifelong resident of Fleta community, passed away Friday June 2, at Crowne Health Care after an extended stay. A memorial service will be held 1:00 pm Tuesday, June 6 at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church, 4450 West Hickory Grove Road in Letohatchee, Alabama, followed by burial in the church cemetery. Family visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
She is survived by her daughter Tommye Jean (John) Howard, step-daughter Gail (Tom) Hall, and step-son Les Moore. She is also survived by her sister Katherine Hall, sister-in-law Katie Cleghorn, brother-in-law Bruce Moore, sister-in-law Merle Bruns, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Julia Cleghorn and husbands Thomas Alford and Arthur Moore. She was a lifetime member of Mt Carmel Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and enjoyed making cakes and her sought-after cream corn for the fellowship dinners.
Mrs. Moore retired from McCrory McClellan Green after 42 years, starting as a sales clerk while in high school and working her way to office manager. She loved her flowers, her church, and was a caring and loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, sister-in-law, and aunt who was cherished by her family. The family wants to thank the nurses of Crowne Health Care of Montgomery as she considered them to be a part of her extended family.
