Beau Donald Greer

The family of Beau Donald Greer of Montgomery, Alabama is saddened to announce his passing on October 15, 2024, at the age of 87 years. He is survived by his faithful wife of 67 years, Joy Parker Greer, his children Daryl Greer (Cindy), Don Greer (Marilyn), Ellen Hamilton (Joe), and Anna Bobo (John), 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his many friends at Hunter Hills Church where he attended and served for 65 years.

Beau was born to Joe and Winnie Bell Greer on August 25, 1937, and was raised on the family farm in north Montgomery County on the banks of the Alabama River. He began his work life as a grain and cattle farmer. Later, he owned and operated Capital Stockyard and the Farm and Ranch Radio Network. His farm market report was broadcast state-wide at noon daily where he was known as the Country Cowboy. He was also active in equipment, construction, and mining businesses. During his career he served as a mentor to several young men who have excelled in their own careers.

He served as a vocational minister and elder in the Hunter Station Church of Christ and was instrumental in the church moving to Prattville in the mid 1990's. He oversaw the construction of the Hunter Hills Church building which is visible to I-65 travelers. He served on the Amridge University Board of Trustees for many years. He also served in leadership positions with the Farm Bureau Federation and the Alabama Cattlemen's Association. He was well known for his forward thinking and dreams for the future. Beau continued to pursue his plans for the future even in his last days.

A graveside service will be held Saturday morning October 19th at 11:00 AM at Greenwood Cemetery in Montgomery. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 20th at the Hunter Hills Church in Prattville. Attendees are invited to join the Greer family for fellowship and refreshments following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial gifts be forwarded to the Hunter Hills Church Missions Fund at 330 Old Farm Lane Prattville AL 36066.
