Pete served in the Air Force 117th Squadron in Birmingham, Alabama in 1961. During this time, he was able to travel to France to serve during his active duty. He returned to the United States the following year where he continued to serve until his discharge in 1963.
Pete was one of twelve siblings.
He is preceded in death by his father, Henry C. Lucas; and mother, Frankie N. Lucas.
Pete is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mitchie Lucas; daughters, Anita Payne (Greg) and Patsy McBride (Danny); son, Stephen Lucas; grandchildren, Jonathan, Heather, Ahna, Colby and Camille; five great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at 6:00 pm followed by a visitation. A private graveside service will take place at Alabama National Cemetery.
