Mary Lou Burleson

Mary "Lou" Harrell Burleson, age 87, of Semmes, Alabama, passed away on September 15, 2019. Lou was a graduate of Montevallo High School. She supported her husband and started their family when he was a student at the University of Alabama. They lived in Birmingham and Houston, as she raised the family. She enjoyed family gatherings and was a strong, Christian lady. Lou was an avid fan of the Houston Astros and Alabama football. She spoiled her son, Jeff, with her cooking, cleaning and ironing; and was instrumental in helping her daughter, Karen, raise her two awesome sons.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wesley H. Harrell and Emma Pickett Harrell. Left to treasure her memory are her daughter, Karen Taunton; son, Jeff Burleson; grandsons, Kyle Gray and Daniel Gray; siblings, Chock Harrell, Johnnie Long, and Kenny Harrell (Joann); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) at 2:00 PM, with visitation to begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery in Pea Ridge, Alabama.
