Marsha Vines Thompson, age 70, of Shelby, Alabama passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021. Marsha was born June 26, 1950 to Hugh and Momee Vines, and raised in Siluria, Alabama along with four siblings. Marsha was a phlebotomist at Shelby Baptist Hospital for 30 years; she was proud of her work and the care and comfort she was able to provide. After retirement. she and Richard spent their time sailing around the world on cruise ships. They enjoyed going to Mexico, the Bahamas and just anywhere the boat could take them. Marsha was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Shelby, Alabama, where she was apart of the choir and helped with vacation bible school. She found so much joy in her children and grandchildren, she loved and encouraged them without hesitation, always striving to be the best Nana she could be.
Marsha will join in Heaven her parents, Hugh Vines and Momee Jones Vines; sister, Marie West Smith; and brother, Josh West.
Left behind to cherish her memory is her beloved husband of 50 years, Richard Thompson; children, Richard Lee Thompson II (Barbara), Lee Ann Geeslin (Terry), and Cortney Plunkett; grandchildren, Alyssa Marie Thompson, Kathryne Elizabeth Thompson, Leah Rose Thompson, Whitney Lee Thompson, Seth Caleb Smith, Dalton Allen Geeslin, Gage Tanner Geeslin, Brayden Alexander Plunkett, and Carter Anderson Plunkett; great-grandson, Aston Bailey Pretnar; step-children, Jerry Richard Thompson (Terry) and Gregory Scott Thompson (Lorrie); siblings, Paulette Vines, and Hugh Vines "Jr" as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Marsha was a loving godly woman, who was truly devoted to her family. Her kindness and large heart were made apparent everyday, and the values she held have been passed along to her children and grandchildren. She was an Angel on Earth and she will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.
A visitation for Marsha will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm. A committal service will occur Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Ryan Cemetery, Hwy 17, Maylene, Alabama.
