Joseph Dewayne Warren, age 50, long-time resident of Montevallo, passed away on May 5, 2019 after a short battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his family. He graduated from Huffman High School and was co-owner and barber at Mitchell’s Barber and Style Shop. Joe loved Auburn football, fishing, playing pool, travelling and his family. He read the story of the birth of Jesus every Christmas and led the family in prayer at holiday gatherings. He was a teller of tall tales, and according to him, always caught a big fish. Joe loved playing pranks and especially April fool’s Day. He was generous to a fault and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his father, Oliver Dewayne Warren. He is survived by his daughter, Andrea Warren of Calera; his son, Ryan Warren of Montevallo; mother, Tommie Mitchell Boothe (Ike); sister, Tammy Smith (Mark); siblings, Ashleigh, Allison, Matthew, Lisa, Jessica, Jesse, and Ike III; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 5:30 PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), with Rev. Ben Dailey officiating. A Celebration of Joe’s Life will follow from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
