Joan McDonough Lucas, age 84, was taken home on Tuesday, November 28th to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Mrs. Lucas is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Franklin Lucas, Sr. She is survived by her 5 children: Henry Lucas, Jr. (Eleanor) of Montgomery; Vickie Polk of Montevallo; Gerald Lucas (Laurie Ann) of Montevallo; Judy Harris (Dale) of Montgomery; Richard Lucas (Deborah) of Clanton; 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, with a 13th grandchild due in a matter of days. Joan served her Lord as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School director and choir member at Providence Baptist Church for 40 plus years. She had an inquisitive mind, sharp wit, and was an educator at heart. Nobody ever left Joan’s home hungry or in need of a hug.
