Jerry Wayne Cox

Jerry Wayne Cox, age 64, of Alabaster, AL died at home with his family on January 4, 2015. Jerry was born in Siluria, AL to Austin & Polly Cox. He graduated from Thompson High School in 1968 and served in the Alabama National Guard. He retired as Branch Manager from LANCE after 30 years and from Greenwood Elementary School in McCalla. He served as Deacon at Siluria Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Dale Roper Cox; daughter, Amy Cox of Alabaster; son, Austin Cox (Melissa) of Hoover; grandchildren, Hannah Lumpkin and Connor Lumpkin; brothers, David Cox (Mary) and Ronald Cox (Myriam), both of Alabaster; sister-in-law, Glenda Roper; brothers-in-law, Grady Roper (Diane) and Robert “Bob” Rich; 5 nieces and 2 nephews. He was a devoted husband, father and friend, whose humor, laughter, kindness and hard work will be greatly missed. Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Siluria Baptist Church, with the funeral to follow at 2:00 PM. Dr. Michael Brooks and Bro. Gary Jones will officiate, and burial will be at Elliottsville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alabama Baptist Children's Homes & Family Ministries, P.O.
