James Harrison "Corky" Bice, age 88, of Brierfield, Alabama passed away comfortably in his home on Friday, July 22, 2022. Corky was born February 5, 1934 to Johnny and Gladys Bice in Beltona, Alabama. Corky grew up in Aldrich and graduated from Montevallo High School in 1952. He joined the United States Air Force in 1952 and served for four years. He was married to Ruelane Peters on March 19, 1960.He went to work for Kimberly-Clark Corporation in 1959 and worked in the Woodlands Division in Wilton, Alabama until he retired in 1994. They were married for 62 years. During retirement, he started and built Corky's Sod Farm to a family business. Corky loved the outdoors and could often be found fishing and hunting his favorite locations.
He was preceded in death by his son, Alan Bice; his parents; his sisters and their husbands, Johnnie Louise and Raymond Nelson, Ann and Tommy Brasher, Jane and Bobby Creel, Pat and Lloyd Ray, Wanda and Terry Bice, Denise Killingsworth; his brother and his wife, Bill and Debbie Bice; his brother, Pete Bice; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Zenoba and Jack Harmon, Carolyn and Red Gray, Kenneth Peters, Bud and Betty Peters, and Bette Peters. Left to treasure his memory are his wife, Ruelane; son, Wade (Lara) Bice; daughter, Amy (Richard) Burton; grandsons, Cameron Bice and Harrison Burton; granddaughter, Ashley (Jordan) Culliver; step-granddaughters, Anna Bass, Rachael Mann and Arin Mann; great-grandchildren, Penley Culliver and Calex Culliver; brother-in-law, Tom Peters; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Weida Martin, Kimberly Quillman, Sheila Merrit, Delilah Harris, Anedia Jackson, Roberta Rutledge and Reynosa Feldy for the loving care given during his confinement in his last days, as well as to the staff at Amedisys Home Care in Brent, Alabama and to the ProHealth Hospice staff in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo), with his funeral service to begin at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest at Montevallo City Cemetery.
