James "Jim" Ernest Barron, age 75, of Pensacola, Florida passed away on June 25, 2024 at Sacred Heart Hospital under the care of Vitas Hospital following a massive stroke in May. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama to James Ernst Barron and Juanita Fultz Barron. He joined the United States Marine Corps at the young age of 17 and spent his life dedicated to that service. He served from Vietnam to Desert Storm. Even after he retired after 32 years, he became a civilian contractor overseas for the global War on Terror and then project manager for FEMA. No matter what the need, he was first on the ground and a true warrior. He retired to Pensacola with his wife to be close to family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice Jeannine Tucker Barron; his parents; his brother, Gary Scott Barron. He is survived by his children, James Winston Tucker Barron of St. Joseph, IL; daughter, Jessica Juanita Barron (Rick Harder) of Pensacola, FL; grandchildren Makenzie Blaze Barron, Anthony Allen Barron, James Robert Tucker Barron, Hunter Scott Fleming and Allison Kate Harder; sister, Gloria Barron of Ashville, AL; brother, Wayne Barron of Mulga, AL; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Brieting of Demopolis, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2024 from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo) followed by a graveside service with military honors at 11:45 AM at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo. Guests are invited to a reception from 12:30 until 1:30 PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo).
