Edith Willa Johnson Elliott, age 94, of Helena/Pelham, passed away March 2, 2016. She was born in Piper, AL in Bibb County to Willie Johnson and Molly Mae Tidwell Johnson. Edith worked in retail at Pizitz, Parisian, and started the first gift shop at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. She worked hard so that her daughters could attend college. She was well-known for her cooking and beautiful sewing. She kept her family and friends laughing with her jokes. She was a member of Helena First Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she served in various roles.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, F. D. Elliott; sons-in-law, Charles Ward and Gene Mills; 5 sisters and a brother. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Dabbs (Tom) and Linda Ingram Mills; 8 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Edith’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 12:00 PM at Helena First Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM and burial will be at Helena City Cemetery. Any memorials may be made to Helena First Baptist Church.
