Duane “D. W.” Williams, age 88, of Montevallo, Alabama died April 10, 2015. D.W. was born in Doddridge County, West Virginia to Virgil A. and Audra F. Yerkey Williams. He worked in sheet metal most of his life and was a member of Sheet Metal Local #48 in Birmingham. D.W. loved to hunt, fish, sing and play the mandolin. He was known as a “dapper gentleman”, and was well loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Berry; grandson, Nathan Berry; great-grandson, Toby Berry; 5 brothers; 2 sisters; and the mother of his children, Edna Whited. He is survived by his daughters, Debbie Hickman (David), Cheri McLean, and Lisa Parker (Michael); sons, Greg D. Williams (Mary) and Jeff Williams (Carolyn); 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and his brother, Gerald Williams. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 15, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Chad Middlebrooks will officiate and burial will be at Montevallo City Cemetery.
