2019. She was born to Edgar and Elizabeth Frost on January 13, 1929. Mrs. Smith was a
graduate of Calera High School and Alabama College where she earned a bachelor’s degree in
Vocational Home Economics. She first taught Home Economics in Beatrice, Alabama before
becoming a Clay County Extension Agent through the Auburn University Extension Service
where she worked until her retirement. A world traveler, she often shared her experiences with
family through pictures, home slideshows, and special gifts from places such as The Holy Land,
China, Hawaii, and South America. She enjoyed attending college reunions at what is now
University of Montevallo and church events at Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church where she
was a member. Mrs. Smith was affectionately called “Sis” by her family and friends. The
importance of her family and her desire to document their special times is evident in the vast
amount of pictures that she took of them.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Smith; her parents, Edgar and Elizabeth
Frost; her brother, E.G. (Jean) Frost; and her sister, Amelia (James “Tuck”) Lum. She is survived by her sister, Julia (Hal) Wilson; her aunt, Zemma Sproul; her nieces and nephews, Nena (Tom) Sanders,
James (Jeanise) Frost, George (Angie) Lum, Elizabeth (Rusty) Richardson, Phillip Wilson,
Karen (Kevin) Caton, William (Ricketta) Wilson; several great-nieces and great-nephews and
devoted caregivers.
Reverend Scott Fowler will be officiating the funeral service. Pallbearers will be Tom Sanders,
James Frost, George Lum, Rusty Richardson, Phillip Wilson, Kevin Caton, and William Wilson.
The funeral is scheduled on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM and the family will receive visitors at 10:00 AM before the funeral at Rockco Funeral Home (Montevallo). Burial will follow at Reynolds-Randall Cemetery in Montevallo. The family requests any memorial donations be directed to Spring Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church, 3411 Spring Creek Road, Montevallo, AL 35115.
