Christopher “Rice” Hyslop was born in Charleston, West Virginia on May 3, 1980 to Chris and Bridget Hyslop. He is preceded in death by his son, Parker; his father, Chris Hyslop; and brother-in-law, Marcus Bryant. Rice is survived by his loving wife, Amanda; two children, Brett and Bailey; as well as his mother, Bridget; mother-in-law, Carol; father-in-law, Larry; sister, Ryan. He also leaves behind nieces, Victoria, Alexandria, Isabella, Olivia, and Ariana as well as a larger extended family with numerous loved ones and friends from around the country.
Rice grew up in Warrenton, Virginia and served in the US Coast Guard in the early 2000s. He relocated to Alabama after meeting the love of his life, Amanda. Rice was a specialist at wiring and electrical work specializing in alarm systems and other technology. His favorite memories were of attending Birmingham Bulls hockey games and vacationing at Vero Beach with his family. He loved his family deeply and also would give the shirt off his back to lend a hand to someone in need. He was quiet, but kind and will be remembered for his big heart.
A Celebration of Rice's Life will occur Saturday, April 22, 2023 at 2:00 PM, 8828 Highway 119, Alabaster, Alabama 35007, with visitation to begin at 12:00 PM at the church. Pastor Matthew Ingram and Pastor Earl Goodwin will officiate.
A committal service will occur Monday, April 24, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115.
