Billy Jack Haynie, age 85, of Alabaster, Alabama passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023. He attended West Blocton High School and graduated from Montevallo High School. Following school, he served in the US Air Force where he was stationed in Las Vegas then Alaska. He met the love of his life, Rachel Horn, in Irvine, Kentucky and they married in 1963. He was a proud railroad worker, retiring as District Engineer of Maintenance and Communication for CSX Railroad. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster. He loved fishing and chasing his grandbabies and great-grandbabies.
He was preceded in death by his father, Andrew Haynie; mother, Willie Harris Haynie; brother, Joe Haynie; sister, Imogene Yeager; and great-grandson, Andrew Haynie. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Rachel Haynie; sons, Billy Haynie (Kelly) and Ray Haynie (Micheala); grandchildren, Heather Barrow (Josh), Courtney Haynie, Kelsey Cranmer (Brandon), Andrew Haynie, Jacob Haynie (Sara) and Travis Haynie; great-grandchildren, Jacquie Bowser, Artemis Haynie, Emmet Arellano, Lyanna Stewart, Natasha Arellano, Gunner Cranmer, Mackenzie Barrow and Riggs Cranmer; sister, Glenda Dover; sister-in-law, Betty Savage; numerous nieces and nephews; and any other child that needed a "Pop".
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 4, 2023 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Rockco Funeral Home, 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115. A funeral service will occur Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 12:30 PM, 3715 Highway 25, Montevallo, Alabama 35115. A committal service will occur Thursday, May 4, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Alabama National Cemetery, 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115.
