Rosa "Rosie" Irma Franco

Rosa Irma Franco, 25, of Montebello, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 in Montebello, surrounded by loved ones. Rosa was also known as Rose, Rosita, and Rosie, amongst us all. She is survived by her baby boy Carlos, age 9, her parents; Manuel and Irma Franco, her siblings; Marizol Franco Adan, Karina Yvette Franco, and Luis- Manuel Franco, her brother-in-law, Lucien P. Adan and her neice and nephews; Karis, Kaleb, and Kohen Adan.

Rosa was born on November 9, 1988. She attended schools in Montebello and East Los Angeles. Prior to college, Rosa attended; Farmer Jones, St. Benedict, Montebello Christian, Cantwell Sacred Heart of Mary, and Montebello High School. During her time at Montebello High School, she began taking college classes at East Los Angeles College. It was at East Los Angeles College where Rosa earned 2 A.A.’s Spring of 2013.

Rosa was positive, passionate, persistent, strong, loyal, and resourceful. Her dedication to Carlitos, her baby boy, and her education is one to be admired! She also enjoyed attending Dodger games. She LOVED to sing. Which is why, she was an avid radio station listener, who was fond of entering their contests. She won many tickets to concerts and amusement parks. In addition, Rosa generously donated blood often.

Rosa’s journey with Small Cell Ovarian Cancer began just a few months ago. On November 1, 2013 Rosa had a tumor removed. On November 9th she happily celebrated her 25th birthday with family as she healed from surgery. It was November 14th when the official diagnosis was given. She then began Chemotherapy in the first week of December. Rosa was our champion! She had her heart set on fighting all the way with all her might!

We, the family of Rosa, wish to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Yap, Dr. Mitchell, all Palliative and hospice staff, all doctors and nurses that cared for Rosa at Kaiser Downey Hospital, and family and friends. To everyone that prayed, sent positive thoughts and messages, visited, cleaned, cooked, and kept Rosie and us company… we appreciate everything!
