It is with great sadness that the family of Maria Socorro Sandra Rios (Sandra) announce her passing after a three year battle with cancer on September 5, 2016, at the age of 71 years. Sandra will be forever in the hearts of her husband and “love of her life” Rodolfo (Rudy) M. Rios, her three children, nine grandchildren, two great granddaughters and two brothers. Sandra will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Sandra was born in Juarez, Chihuahua, Mexico on June 29, 1945 to Zeferino Quiñones and Ramona Castillo. She married Rudy in Juarez on May 20, 1964. She left Mexico in 1970 and became a proud citizen of the United States of America in 1982. She worked for 15 years at Mattel, Inc. in the City of Industry, CA. After leaving Mattel, she dedicated her life to her family and supporting Rudy with the start of his company, Rudy’s Plumbing. After Rudy retired from Rudy’s Plumbing, she wholeheartedly supported his passionate involvement with the Knights of Columbus. They were also members of the Latin American Senior Center. In these two organizations, they made many life-long friends.
Sandra enjoyed camping in her RV, strolling her neighborhood with her mother, and during baseball season, rooting for the Los Angeles Dodgers while listening to Jaime Jarin. She loved all the holidays because it was when all her family would come together to eat, laugh and play. Being surrounded by her family was her most glorious satisfaction. Her final wish was that her family always stay united and to always love one another regardless of trials and tribulations.
Her viewing and Rosary will be held on Monday, September 12, 2016 at 5PM at Turner & Stevens Live Oak Memorial Park & Mortuary, 200 E. Duarte Rd. Monrovia, CA 91016 - Rosary will begin at 7PM.
