At the age of twenty-one, John enlisted in the Army Air Corps and courageously flew P-38 Fighters during WWII. While stationed in Alaska, his plane was shot down over the Aleutian Island of Attu. For his bravery and service, John received the Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross.
John retired from the Air Force Reserve as a Lt. Colonel. Back home, he worked for many years for the City of Pasadena. He also served wholeheartedly on the Board of Directors for Thru the Bible Radio.
John had a deep love for his wife, his children and his grandchildren. He was especially involved in the lives of his grandchildren, seizing every opportunity to pour love into their lives.
