James grew up in Monrovia, Ca. with his Mom, Step-Dad Joe Hickingbottom, and his five siblings; he attended, Huntington Elementary School, Clifton Junior High School, and Graduated from Monrovia High School in 1975.
James was never married and had no biological children, but for 25 years he helped Andrea Sanchez raise her two girls Kim and Aliyha, he treated them like they where his own. To Kim’s kids he was Papa!
James and Joyce Tyler have been together for 20 years, she was there for him when he was well and took good care of him until he took his last breath on.
James accepted Christ as his personal savior and was a Deacon at the Good Shepherd Church of Pasadena.
James was employed by the Santa Anita race track and Retired after 25 years a few years ago.
He loved working at the track because betting on the horses was one of his favorite things to do.
James had a lot of loves, He loved taking care of his mom, loved his long time girlfriend, Joyce who helped him take care of his mom, loved keeping his yard looking good, loved listening to good music, loved jogging and he loved Banana pudding!
His Dad James Holloway, Step-Dad Joe Hickingbottom, Brother Andre Barron and Sister Stacy Hickingbottom all preceded him in death.
On August 5, James got his wings, James (Pop) leaves to cherish his memory, his mom Joyce Hickingbottom; one sister, Audrey Barron; one cousin/sister Sandra Hall; three brothers, Kevin Barron, Steffon Barron and Joey Hickingbottom; Girlfriend Joyce Tyler; Two Daughters Kim and Aliyha; Two grandchildren Steven and Ariana Bermundez; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The repast will be held at his home
