Frank was a beautiful man who cared about others. His greatest gift was listening, understanding and guidance.

Im so very sorry for the loss of this man and the fact that I just found out today 6 years later shows that we do go our own ways which ok but we never forget the ones we love.  Frank was a good guy invited me a my wife to his home on many occasions besides training me. Once again my condolences and I pray hurt has eased up for you to continue on your journeys . My name is Charles Ammons and Frank was a great teacher and friend of mines that I will miss.

I met Mr. Trejo back in the late 80's when I was a freshman in college and taking classes at Mr. Parker's Kenpo Studio in Pasadena. I was a regular face and Mr. Trejo always took the time to say hello and give me advice and instruction after class.  He was a fantastic teacher and made you feel special. His stories and sense of humor put all of his students at ease and you felt a sense of not just respect, but friendship. He had a gift beyond martial arts...he was an inspiring teacher and wonderful human being I'm proud to have known. I hope we meet again.

Sitting here, thinking about Frank. Listening to More than a women by The Bee Gees. I remember him playing this cd for me upon one of his returns from abroad. He left a part of my heart empty but it refills with love and joy when I remember our times together, the laughs, training, music, hard times and mostly good. We shared a love that I will cherish all my days. Frank was one of a kind, a gentleman, a ferocious man, a man of talent, a man like no other. 

Always in my prayers,  thoughts and in my heart forever.  Will always remember our special Thanksgivings and Christmas Eve's, Your birthday.  I am so blessed to have been able to share those times and tons more ever since I can remember.  Easters, Birthday Parties,, & BBQ s on Wagner and Locust, all the places you lived. Our family is big but you were always my biggest,  baddest cousin! Love you still, miss you more than you know.

To the Trejo family, I am so sorry for your loss of Frank. I was one of Frank's students from 1986 - . I still think of myself as one of Frank's student even though I have not seen him for over 30 years. My wife and I moved to Pasadena in 1986. I had not found a job yet.  I walked into the Pasadena school and met Frank. I told him I wanted to sign up once I started working. Frank looked at me and said,"Go get your gear, you start today."  So I did. I don't know why Frank took a personal interest in me. Maybe he made everyone feel that way. In those days you took as many group classes as you wanted and got one individual lesson a week. Frank gave me my personal lessons. I felt so lucky that Frank taught me personally.  He was a great story teller, teacher, martial artist, and warrior.  Frank loved children. When my wife and I had our first daughter we invited Frank and some friends over for a BBQ. When Frank saw our baby, this strong proud man's eyes filled with tears. I will never forget him and he will always live in my heart and in heaven. Frank's life was well lived.

I just heard about Frank's passing yesterday through a mutual friend. I'm so sorry for your loss. My prayers go out to all of your family. Frank was my first boyfriend way back at  McKinley Jr. High when we were 14 years old . I remember him as  sweet, sensitive and caring . We'd often hangout with his best friend, Phil Pasos.
 In the 80's when I did EKG's  at Huntington Memorial Hospital  I would periodically  see the name  "Trejo "  and would wonder if it was Frank or his family. I'd go upstairs to do the EKG and it would be his wife having a baby !  It was fun to see the surprise on his face .
 In the 90's I found out by accident that he was a  Karate Instructor when I happened to walk past a studio window in Monrovia and saw him teaching a class of kids. Wow. I thought that was cool. I was so proud.  Over the years I would see something  somewhere which would show how far his career had taken him and all the lives he had touched.  Again, I was so proud.

I just read that your son, Frank, passed away.  I had been writing to him for the last few years, at least once a month.  He was truly a great person in some ways and I trained under him when we were kids.  I had meant to send him an audio Bible this month, and had sent him two Kenpo shirts in the last month's before he died.  I was planning to come out and see him this year. Prayers to the Trejo family on this tragic loss. Frank was my instructor...but more importantly he was my close friend...he was like a brother to me and an uncle to my children. My entire family are sending prayers to all  of  you during this difficult and trying time.
