Betty Ann Hodge, daughter of late Mary Lee Brown and Robert Battiste was born September 20, 1948 in New Orleans Louisiana. Mary later married Joseph Brown Sr. and in 1956 the Brown family moved to Monrovia Ca. where Betty attended the public schools of Monrovia Unified School District.
Betty received Christ at an early age and always loved to share the gospel of the Lord. She sought out the Lord’s direction in all aspect of her life and desired for her family to carry the legacy of having a strong spiritual foundation.
Betty was blessed with three children James Hodge J. (wife Marcelina) of Katy, Tx, Stephanie Hodge of Rialto, Ca, and Cassa Hodge (wife of Sylvia) of Monrovia, Ca from her 22 years of marriage to James Hodge Sr. Betty was also a bonus mother to Sheree, Brianna, Anthony, Kevin and Jerome.
Betty was blessed by her grandchildren (Kimberly, Jasmine, Dylan, Makayla, Zoemy, Antonio, Cyanne and Cassa. Prior to them being born, she was inspired to start Hodge Family Daycare in the late 1980’s. Her daycare children gave her the name “Nae Nae” in which it has been adopted by her family as well.
Betty impacted the lives of many with her generosity, kindness, and loving spirit. Her presence was felt everywhere she went, and respected in the community.
Betty is survived by her two brothers Joe, Dennis, and along with her three sisters Bertha, Elizabeth, Denise and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends. She is preceded in death by her brother Danny, her nephews (Joe Jr, Lavell, Jordan ) and parents. Betty, we love you and you will truly be missed.
