Mark grew up in Carnation, WA and graduated from Tolt High School in 1967. Mark married his high school sweetheart Joanne Decker in 1969. Mark and Joanne shared three children; Mark, Corrina, and Charlie. Mark and Joanne divorced, but remained cordial and would eventually become the best of friends. Mark married his second wife Janet Vodder in 1992 and gained two step daughters, Kate and Ang. Their marriage was annulled a handful of years later but they too remained friends.
Mark spent his younger years working on a farm and suffered a tragic accident in 1971 that nearly took his life. He spent 30+ years working as a Forklift Operator for Sauder Door Company in Kirkland, WA. He retired disabled in 2009 when they closed their doors.
Mark enjoyed working with his hands, tinkering on junk (treasures), building things, sewing (his family has many eccentric patterned blankets), mowing grass, camping and road trips, morning breakfasts with his family, visiting friends, gallivanting with his cohort Teel (Peeps) and enjoying the beautiful view of Mt. Rainier from his property.
Mark suffered polio as a child, which made much of his life more difficult but he always made the best of it. More recently, Mark suffered a major stroke which ultimately led to his passing. Mark passed away in the early morning on February 15, 2023 at the Adult Family Home in Duvall, WA where he had resided for the past 4 months.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Joyce and niece, Robin Harrell. Mark is survived by 8 siblings; Jay (Bev), Lee, Suzie (John Mackenzie), Jim (Trudy), Cindy (Dave Bayard), Glen (Geri), Patsy, Casey (Annette), and many, many nieces and nephews. Three children; Mark (Sonya), Corrina (Blake Marty), and Charlie (Kerry). Seven grandchildren Shantel Marty, Taren Kuntz, Jesse Kuntz, Korianne (Taylor Martin), Arthur Marty, Mackenzie Kuntz, and Jacob Pozzi. Five great grand- children Taylor Kuntz, Teylin Kuntz, Silas Kuntz, Brayden Martin, and soon to be born baby Marty.
While his family is saddened by Mark’s passing, we are relieved that his suffering is over. We are honored to have spent so much of our lives with him and will greatly miss the abundance of laughs he would give us (he was rarely serious, but ALWAYS good for a laugh). Our hope is that he has been reunited with his parents who he has missed greatly and that he is running as fast as the wind on two stable legs. A celebration of life will be held at 2pm on Sunday, February 26th at The Swiss Hall- 18500 Tualco Rd Monroe, WA for anyone that would like to join. Food will be provided.
