Larry Dixon Smith, born May 27, 1931 in Monroe, WA to Wesley and Alvina Smith, departed this life on August 17, 2016 surrounded by his family at his home in Monroe, WA. He was 85. A graduate of Monroe High School, Class of 1949, Larry went on to proudly serve his country in the Navy and retired after many years of dedicated service. He worked for Scott Paper in Everett for 35+ years. He enjoyed traveling, being a member of the Sky Valley Tractor Club, and spending time with his family and friends. Larry is survived by his loving wife, Nicki, sons Lance (Nancy), Brad (Brenda), Barry (Patty), Marty (Denise) all of Monroe, and Chuck (Diana) of Sultan, siblings Neva Schell of Cashmere, Buzz Smith of Idaho, Dixie Jackson of Illinois, Jean Groeneveld of Sultan, Cole Smith of Wyoming, and Nola Frankhauser of Mercer Is., 12 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sons Michael and Lyle. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 1:30pm at the Tualco Grange, 18933 Tualco Rd., Monroe.
