He was born on March 5, 1934 to Walter DeClyde and Nellie Presson Davis. He was born in the house that he lived in and he died in the same room. Growing up he worked the farm land and picked cotton. He graduated from Union High School in 1953. He then joined the Army and served at Fort Bragg and Fort Jackson. September 9, 1955 was his last day in the Army. He worked at the asbestos plant from 1955-1961. In 1961 he started working at ORO Manufacturing and worked as a tool and dye operator until he retired in 1996. Although he had a regular job during the day, he would come home and farm the land. When he retired he went into the cattle business. He enjoyed teaching his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren how to work the land and raise cattle. After retiring he also enjoyed going on mission trips with the church mission group. Tommy never met a person that didn’t become his friend.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Terry Leonard; and brothers, Marvin Davis and Harry Davis.
