Shirley Ann Ferguson Suggs

Shirley Ann Ferguson Suggs, age 76, of Monroe, passed away on September 19, 2016 at home surrounded by her family. She was born in Union County, the daughter of Hoy Adam and Thelma Eury Ferguson. She attended Benton Heights High School, where she graduated in 1958. After high school she married the love of her life, Bobby, on January 8, 1961. Their love for one another was a shining example for her children and grandchildren. Her family was her pride and joy, which was evident in the unconditional love shown between them.

Shirley was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Thelma Michele Jenkins and her sister, Sue Williams.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bobby Suggs; her son, Tommy “TA” Suggs; daughters, Susan Griffin (Doug) and Leann Jenkins (Dean); nine grandchildren, Chad Griffin, Justin Jenkins, Micala Griffin, Deann Jenkins, Jenna Jenkins, Dylan Suggs, Kara Griffin, Brie Suggs and Sara Suggs; her two brothers, Steve Ferguson (Carol) and Gene Ferguson (Merle); and her sister, Brenda Simpson.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, September 22, 2016 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at McEwen Funeral Home of Monroe. A service to celebrate her life will be on Friday, September 23, 2016 at 2:00pm at Mountain Springs Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Mountain Springs Baptist Church Cody Fund or to Hospice of Union County.
